Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London until Friday.  

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Cool spaces

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs 

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support until 4pm on Thursday and Friday but avoid travelling unless it is essential. 

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

Council tax

All homeowners and tenants living in Islington need to be registered for council tax. If you pay by Direct Debit or are signed up for e-billing you will be automatically entered for cash prize draws.

  • Single person discount

    You can get 25% off your bill if you're the only person 18 or over living in your home - use the form to apply, cancel if something has changed or respond to a review letter

  • Student discount

    Apply for a student discount if you and the other people you live with are in full-time education

  • Switch to paperless billing

    If you are signed up for paperless billing, you could win up to £3,000

  • Council tax for landlords

    Check who should be paying council tax and let us know about a change of tenancy

  • Apply for a refund

    If you have overpaid your council tax then you can get a refund
