Children's social care complaints policy

This policy explains how we handle complaints about children's social care.

What you cannot complain about

There are some things we cannot consider under this complaints process including:

  • matters subject to legal proceedings or court decisions
  • child protection investigations (Section 47 enquiries)
  • issues relating to schools or education (handled separately)
  • issues that should be considered under the council's corporate complaints policy
  • complaints made more than 12 months after the event, unless there are exceptional circumstances
