Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs)

Controlled Parking Zones (CPZs) are areas where on-street parking is controlled during specified times. They are the most effective way of managing parking and are commonly used in busy areas across the UK

Estate parking controls are different to the on-street parking restrictions. Please see the 'Estate parking' section for more information.

Benefits of controlled parking

  • easier for residents to park near their homes
  • improved safety, with better visibility at junctions
  • easier access for emergency services, delivery and removal vans
  • reduced traffic and pollution by discouraging vehicles from driving through the borough.

Map of controlled zones

You can view a map of Islington showing all the controlled zones.

Hours of operation

Hours of operation differ by zone, and are shown on this map, as well as on signs within the zones.

Other restrictions, such as bus lanes or single yellow lines have different hours of operation. For example, use of some bus lanes is prohibited from 7am, and some single yellow lines are restricted from 8am. Double yellow lines mean no parking 24 hours a day.

Please always check the signs near to where you park to avoid getting a ticket. For more information please see the highway code.

Bank holiday parking

On bank holidays, when Arsenal is not playing at home, motorists can park in any resident parking bay or pay and display bay in Islington for free.

You cannot park on double yellow lines or in dedicated disabled bays at any time.

You must have the appropriate permit to park in a car club bay or doctors bay.

If there is an event at Emirates Stadium, check the zone signs before you park.
