Report a communal repair

Report a communal repair when there's a problem with parts of your block or estate that everyone uses.

Before you report a communal repair

Check if your report has already been raised by contacting your quality assurance officer or estate services coordinator.

How to report a communal repair

Email repairs@islington.gov.uk.

If it's an emergency, telephone either:

  • 0800 694 3344
  • 020 7527 5400

Response times

We aim to complete most communal repairs in 20 days.

If the repair is an emergency, we aim to repair it or make it safe in 2 hours.

We might not complete a repair in 20 days if:

  • it requires leaseholder contributions, leaseholders need to be informed and consulted
  • it's already scheduled as part of a works programme
  • we need to order special parts, which may take time
  • it's a more expensive repair which has to go out to tender so we get the best value

Who can report communal repairs

  • residents
  • quality assurance officers through their estate visits
  • estate services co-ordinators
  • Tenant and Resident Associations (TRAs) during their scheduled inspections

Attend an inspection

You can also get involved by attending the inspections with the TRA, or with the relevant officer where there is no TRA, by contacting Housing Services.
