Easter service changes

During the Easter period, some of our services will be operating slightly different hours. Our council’s bin collection schedule will change for one week starting on Friday 29 March to make sure everyone’s waste is picked up around the bank holiday.

Easter bank holiday services 2024

Our services on bank holidays may be different than usual. Find out more on each of the services below during the Easter bank holiday on 29 March and 1 April 2024.

Access Islington service centre

The holiday opening hours for the main call centre 020 7527 2000 for Easter are: 

  • Friday 29 March – hubs and call centre closed.
  • Saturday 30 March – hubs and call centre closed.
  • Sunday 31 March – hubs and call centre closed.
  • Monday 1 April – hubs and call centre closed.
  • Tuesday 2 April - open as normal 9.00am - 5.00pm

If you require urgent assistance, our emergency out of office line will be available, just call 020 7527 2000 and choose the option you need.

Our contact centre at 222 Upper Street is open only for emergency cases. Please do not visit if it is not emergency as we will not be able to help you face to face.

Anti-social behaviour reporting

The anti-social behaviour (ASB) out of hours response service will be operating and is available as usual Sunday to Thursday nights from 4pm to 2am, and Friday and Saturday nights 5pm to 4am.

Birth, death, marriage and citizenship services

On Friday 29 March until Tuesday 2 April, the register office will be closed, other than for booked ceremonies. An on-call registrar is available each day between 9.30am and 12.30pm to register deaths for urgent religious funerals.

Please call 0207 527 6350 during these hours to be connected to the on-call registrar.

Housing

Bidding for housing

The Home Connections website will be unavailable from 28 to 31 March 2024 because of a system upgrade. This means: 

  • there are no properties advertised over this Easter weekend
  • you cannot log in to the system or create and update any applications
  • the system will be back from Monday 1 April and you can bid for properties from Thursday 4 April.

Libraries

Please note that all of our 10 libraries have different opening patterns so do check the library opening hours on our libraries page.

  • Friday 29 March – All libraries closed.
  • Saturday 30 March – Open as normal.
  • Sunday 31 March – All libraries closed.
  • Monday 1 April – All libraries closed.
  • Tuesday 2 April - Open as normal

Parking

Easter parking enforcement

  • Friday 29 March 2024 (Good Friday): 24-hour offences such as double yellow lines, footway, double parking, pedestrian crossing zig zags, dedicated disabled bays and doctors' bays. Moving traffic violations will still be enforced.
  • Saturday 30 March 2024: Normal enforcement.
  • Sunday 31 March 2024: Normal Sunday enforcement.
  • Monday 1 April 2024 (Easter Monday): 24-hour offences such as double yellow lines, footway, double parking, pedestrian crossing zig zag, dedicated disabled bays and doctors' bays. Moving traffic violations will still be enforced.
  • Tuesday 2 April 2024: Normal enforcement.

Vehicle pound opening times

  • Good Friday 29 March 2024: 8am - 6pm

  • Easter Monday 1 April 2024: 8am - 6pm

Estate parking enforcement

  • Friday 29 March 2024: Normal 24-hour enforcement
  • Saturday 30 March 2024: Normal 24-hour enforcement

  • Monday 1 April 2024: Normal 24- hour enforcement

The enforcement hotline number can be contacted 24 hours on 0207 5277624 should there be any problem with enforcement over the Easter period. You can also email Contracts.Enforcement@islington.gov.uk should you have any queries or problems. This is monitored 9am to 5pm

Housing can be contacted at housing.transport@islington.gov.uk should anybody have any questions in relation to obtaining parking in the estates

Parks

All parks and parks sports facilities are open as normal over the Easter period.

 

Recycling and rubbish collections

Rubbish and recycling collections will happen a day later than usual on the week starting Friday 29 March 2024. Weekend collections will remain the same.

Collections will continue as normal from Monday 8 April 2024.

Garden waste recycling 

Garden waste recycling collections with a permit start on Tuesday 2 April 2024 because of the Bank Holiday Monday. Check your QR code for your first collection date.
