Late-Night Levy charges

Levy charges, exemptions, reductions and information on how the money is spent

Exemptions and reductions

Exemptions

Two categories of premises are exempt:

  • premises only authorised to sell alcohol between 00.01am and 06.00am hours on New Year's Day
  • premises providing overnight accommodation where alcohol can only be sold for consumption on the premises to persons staying at the premises.

The levy doesn’t apply to Temporary Event Notices.

Reductions

There is a 30% reduction to members of our Late-Night Levy Best Practice Scheme.

Varying your premises licence to avoid the levy

You can apply for a minor variation to amend your licence so that the hours you are permitted to sell alcohol end at or before midnight.
