Elections on 2 May

Elections for the next Mayor of London and London Assembly members, as well as the by-election for Hillrise ward, will take place on Thursday 2 May.

You must now show photo ID when you vote at polling stations. See a full list of accepted forms of ID. You can also apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate in place of photo ID. The deadline to apply for this is 5pm, Wednesday 24 April.

What you can recycle

We collect most household plastic packaging for recycling. Please rinse soiled items with water before putting them in your recycling bin or clear bag.

About plastic polymer numbers

Some plastic packaging has a recycling logo with a number printed on it. This tells you the plastic polymer the packaging is made from.

You don't need to take note of the polymer number. It won't help you work out which plastic items we collect for recycling. Just use the list below.

You can put these plastics in your recycling container

  • Bleach and cleaning fluid containers
  • Cooking oil bottles
  • Detergent and fabric conditioner containers
  • Drinks bottles
  • Food trays 
  • Fruit punnets 
  • Ice cream tubs 
  • Margarine containers 
  • Plastic food packaging
  • Plastic bags - we only collect
  • Plastic milk, soup or juice cartons
  • Shampoo and shower gel containers
  • Yoghurt pots
