Bright Start venues are places you can meet other parents, support each other, and get involved in improving what Bright Start offers.
You must register to visit a Bright Start venue. You can download the registration form from the bottom of this page. Once you are registered, you can use any children’s centre or local venue where Bright Start activities are offered.
You can find local activities on the Bright Start timetables for East, West and South Islington, and remember you can visit any venue at any time.
Bright Start Services and Activities
Bright Start Islington provides activities and services including:
- childcare and early education
- Stay and play sessions: toys and activities for under 5s
- Child health clinics
- Health visiting
- Parenting programmes
- Free healthy start vitamins
- Speech and language therapy
- Breastfeeding support and infant feeding advice
- Benefits advice
- Help with finding work

Help shape Bright Start Islington services
Come to a free induction session for parents, carers and community representatives interested in joining one of the three new Early Childhood Area Partnerships (ECAPs). The ECAPs aim to:
- look at the needs of local families
- agree and monitor priorities
- encourage parents and carers to be involved in shaping services

Parent Champion, Training and Volunteering
Would you like to help other parents with under 5s? You could gain accredited level 1 training in volunteering and become a Bright Start Islington Parent Champion. Come to a taster session on 7 February, 10am to 12 noon at Archway Children’s Centre, N19 5HE. Training starts 21 February. For further details, see the flyer attached in Useful documents.
