Public toilets

Please note as of April 2024, five of the six public toilets are currently out of order.

Please note Islington is in the early stages of replacing all of our automated public toilets. Due to the age of these facilities and high levels of misuse these toilets go in and out of service – we apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Updates

  • Highbury Fields public toilet is still open and usable but this could change at any time due to high levels of misuse.
  • The pop-up urinal in Cowcross Street is back in use

Toilets4London app

  • The Toilets4London app gives details of toilets in the community that are available for people to use when out and about.
  • It lists more than 50 toilets in Islington, including council buildings like the Town Hall, 222 Upper Street, and libraries.
  • We’re encouraging more businesses and organisations to join Toilets4London, and help make a real difference to their local community.

Public toilet facilities in Islington

  • There are six public toilets located around the borough.
  • Five of these are automated, fully accessible and are open 24 hours a day.
  • There is a 20p charge to use public toilets. They are free for RADAR key holders. You can buy a RADAR key from local hardware shops, such as on Upper Street and Holloway Road or online. Read more about RADAR keys.
  • There is also an attended public toilet, which is fully accessible, at Chapel Market.
  • To help deal with anti-social street urination around Clerkenwell at weekends, a pop up urinal is available in Cowcross Street outside The Hope pub.

Use the Toilets4London app for a map of your nearest public toilet in Islington. You can also use this list of toilets.
