Elections for the next Mayor of London and London Assembly members, as well as the by-election for Hillrise ward, will take place on Thursday 2 May. You must now show photo ID when you vote at polling stations. See a full list of accepted forms of ID.

Decide how to spend £15,000 on your estate!

Come and decide which projects get funded on Saturday 20 April, 11am-1:30pm at Nailour Hall, N7 9BH.

There will be activities for all the family, including face painting and craft activities. Refreshments, snacks and drinks also provided.

Residents have now submitted their proposals to spend a £15,000 grant on projects and activities to benefit your estate and community. It is now up to you, as residents on Boston and Nailour to decide which projects get funded by coming along on Saturday 20 April.

Please note: In this Islington Council project, residents will choose their favourite proposals for changes to the Boston and Nailour Estates. It is entirely separate from the Mayor of London and London Assembly elections on 2 May 2024.

Timings on the day:

  • 11am – Refreshments, craft activities and face painting 
  • 11.30am – Welcome and presentations from proposers
  • 12pm – 1pm – Choose your favourite proposal
  • 1.15pm – Winning proposals announced

All of the following projects were submitted by Nailour and Boston residents before the 10 March deadline. Residents have the right to withdraw their proposal before the voting day, and we will update this summary information with any changes.

  • Refreshing and updating Boston play park 
    Small renovation of the park in Boston estate so that it is updated, improved and made safe for children and families who live on the estate.
  • Sustainable planting for Nailour and Boston 
    We want to propose some new, sustainable planting on the entrances to Boston and Nailour estates to brighten up the estates.
  • A community mural for Nailour and Boston 
    A painted community mural somewhere on the estate, visible to residents and passersby, which can add colour and joy to the neighbourhood and celebrate an element of local culture or history through the mural artwork.
     
  • Painting railings on Boston Estate 
    We would like to see the communal railings on Boston estate repainted and refreshed. 

  • Community Gardening Workshops 
    We would like to run community gardening workshops for residents on the estates, working with a local provider to encourage more residents to access the community garden and learn new gardening and growing skills.

  • Stay and Play group for under 5s, parents and carers 
    To improve and enhance learning experiences for the voluntarily run Stay and Play group for under 5s and their carers, which is open to everyone across Nailour and Boston estates.  

  • Community pottery workshops 
    Pottery workshops for all ages. Learn how to make and paint pottery with your neighbours. 
     
  • Youth Club at Nailour Hall 
    A youth program designed to empower and enrich the lives of young people during holidays and after-school hours.  
     
  • Computers and Coffee Club 
    Computers & Coffee Club (tea also available) will teach people how to better use their digital devices to better connect with family, friends, and services online. This group will be run by local charity Healthy Generations. 
     
  • Planting for Skegness House green space 
    To regenerate the grassed area within Skegness into a beautifully planted landscape, bringing new life to the community playground and encouraging the residents of Boston and Nailour to work together to implement the design and make a positive change.
     
  • Communal washing lines  
    Washing lines on the grassy area outside 120 -135 Conistone Way to allow residents without gardens dry laundry outside. 
     
  • Raised planters 
    Raised planters for the grass area outside 120-135 Conistone Way, to improve biodiversity, plant flowers and grow food together.
