Elections on 2 May

Elections for the next Mayor of London and London Assembly members, as well as the by-election for Hillrise ward, will take place on Thursday 2 May.

You must now show photo ID when you vote at polling stations. See a full list of accepted forms of ID. You can also apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate in place of photo ID. The deadline to apply for this is 5pm, Wednesday 24 April.

Everything you need to know for a great local shopping trip.

There are a wide variety of traders operating across the borough, including council managed and privately run markets, with some great speciality and farmer's markets taking place at weekends too. 

Do you have an idea for a pop-up market or event that you would like to be hosted at Chapel Market? The council is happy to accept proposals for self-funded pop-up markets or events that will animate the market and add value to the community. Please send your proposal to the markets development officer at: Parris.Langridge@islington.gov.uk.

Proposals should include details on what will be sold at the market, how many stalls are planned to be to included, details of any other activities that would take place and an overview of the business model including how the market would be financed and promoted.

Archway Market

Combining great street food with an eclectic selection of stalls, Archway Market features over 20 independent local businesses.

The market has speciality stalls, offering all sorts of vintage fashions, collectables and curiosities, as well as a celebrated second hand bookstall.

Every Saturday between 10am and 5pm, Navigator Square in Archway

Camden Passage

Located just off the main High street in Angel, Camden Passage is a hidden gem for antique hunters and lovers of vintage and retro clothing and collectables.

Camden Passage features three separate market areas, Pierrepoint Arcade, Charlton Place and Camden Passage itself.

Opening hours

Main market days are Wednesday and Saturday from 8am to around 5pm.

Stalls may also operate on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays but this is subject to change at short notice.

Known as the heart of the Angel, Chapel Market has been serving the local community for over 150 years. This traditional street market sells a huge array of goods and services.

Exmouth Market

Exmouth Market has over 20 designated pitches, serving great hot food, snacks and drinks

Islington Farmers Market

Islington Farmer’s market takes place at Chapel Market, every Sunday from 10am-2pm.

Selling a wide-range of produce, including meat and cheeses from farms within 100 miles of London.

Shoppers are encourage to bring their own bags and food containers to help keep the market sustainable and reduce waste locally.

Nags Head Indoor Market

Situated at the Holloway end of Seven Sisters Road, Nag’s Head indoor market has serving locals since 1975, specialising in second-hand and antique items, as well as clothes, crafts and jewellery.

Nags Head Open-Air Weekend Market

This privately-run market operates at Grafton Primary School’s playground at Bowman’s Place, just opposite the Holloway Odeon Cinema.

Saturday is primarily a traditional market day with stalls selling a wide range of goods.

Sunday is a Car Boot day. Visitor entry is free.

Opening Hours

Saturdays from 9am - 4pm

Sundays, from 10am - 2.30pm

Whitecross Street Market

Located between Old Street and Fortune Street in the south of the borough, Whitecross Street market is one of the oldest markets in London.
