Easter service changes

During the Easter period, some of our services will be operating slightly different hours. Our council’s bin collection schedule will change for one week starting on Friday 29 March to make sure everyone’s waste is picked up around the bank holiday.

See the full schedule and your amended rubbish and recycling collection dates and other service changes including parking and library opening times over the Easter period.

Pavement licence

Apply for a pavement licence if you would like to place furniture on the highway, to sell or serve food or drink in connection with adjacent premises.

The Government have introduced a new Business and Planning Bill 2019-21, which includes a new pavement licence. Under this new licence, businesses selling food and drink may apply to the council for authorisation to put furniture such as tables and chairs on the highway adjacent to their premises to sell food and drink.

Please visit the Government website for further advice.

This is a new licence and does not replace the current tables and chairs licence which continues to be available. Businesses who currently hold a tables and chairs licence can continue to operate their business with this in place.

Businesses wishing to make a new application or wanting to renew an expired tables and chairs licence can:

  • Renew or apply in the usual manner with no change in any of the conditions or permissions but will have to pay the current advertised costs

or

  • Make an application for a pavement licence. The fee is £100.

We recommend you read the guidance before you apply to ensure you have all the information you need to provide.
