Step-by-step advice on starting and continuing supportive conversations. This includes:
- choosing the right time and place
- asking open questions
- listening without judgement
- showing empathy
- avoiding unhelpful comparisons or assumptions
Signposting and crisis support - pages 10 to 13
Clear tips on:
- when and how to signpost residents to services, from GPs and NHS Talking Therapies to community-based support
- what to do in a crisis with emergency contacts, helplines, and local urgent care pathways in Islington
Community and preventive support - pages 19 to 43
Directory of local services that covers support for adults, children, young people, carers, and specific groups including LGBTQ+, women, refugees, and those affected by addiction.
The toolkit also promotes the ‘five ways to wellbeing' - connection, activity, learning, awareness and giving back.
