Licence extensions
Licences for street works are only valid for a limited period. If you wish to extend your licence, you must apply for an extension and pay a fee.
To apply for an extension to a license, complete the online form. If your application is approved, we will be in touch by email to confirm the length of time your extension has been approved for. We will also provide you with instructions to pay the extension fee, which will be by credit card online. Once we have received notification of the payment, we will issue you with a revised licence by email.
Extension fees
You must pay an extension fee for every month or every week that you wish to extend the licence, or part thereof. This means that if you only wish to extend a licence for two weeks but the fees are charged monthly, you must still pay for the full month. Whether the fee is charged monthly or weekly depends on the type of licence.
SC HO MA PL licences
These are the extension fees for licence types beginning SC HO MA PL. The extension fee is based on the level of management fee you paid in your original application for the license.

Gantry scaffolding licenses

Section 50 excavation licences
- For footway works, the extension fee is £317 per month.
- For carriageway works, the extension fees are £633 per month.
Vehicle crossover licences
For section 50 temporary crossover permissions extension fees are as follows.
- For standard vehicle crossovers, the extension fee is £322 per calendar month.
- For heavy duty vehicle crossovers, the extension fee is £515 per calendar month.
Container licences
The extension fee is £291 per week.
Road closure licences
The extension fee is £732 per month.
