Islington Council plans to redevelop the Finsbury Leisure Centre to provide much needed council homes, a new leisure centre, healthcare, childcare and energy facilities into one new exemplary civic development. There will be a range of opportunities for the community to shape the design of the new development.
The council ran a design competition to find the best architect to help the council develop the site. Pollard Thomas Edwards was the winner of the competition (a copy of their initial design idea can be seen in the link below in the useful documents.)
The council intends to work with Pollard Thomas Edwards Architects to prepare a final design and planning application. The council and Pollard Thomas Edwards Architects will provide opportunities for the local community to shape and influence the design before a planning application is submitted.
Prior to the launch of the design competition, the council adopted a planning brief for the site that sets out the council's requirements for the site. A copy of the brief and accompanying consultation report can be found below.
