Private Rented Sector Charter

Islington Council has a new draft charter to stand up for and protect private renters in the borough

This consultation has ended

Start date 27 February 2023
End date 26 March 2023

A quarter of all homes in Islington are privately rented. Islington Council is determined to make private renting fairer, and is working hard to protect renters rights

We want everyone in Islington to have a safe, decent and secure place to call home that is well maintained and well managed. We have produced a Private Rented Sector Charter that sets out the key actions the council will lead on to help support tenants, landlords, managing and letting agents to deliver a safe, healthy, and thriving private rented sector.

The objectives of the charter are to improve property and management standards, increase opportunities within the sector for low income households and improve communications across the sector.

We want you to tell us what you think and if we have got it right. We will use your feedback to make amends to the charter. You can read the charter in full, at the Useful Documents section at the bottom of this page.
