Elections for the next Mayor of London and London Assembly members, as well as the by-election for Hillrise ward, will take place on Thursday 2 May. You must now show photo ID when you vote at polling stations. See a full list of accepted forms of ID.

Let's Talk Islington prize draw rules

  • By entering the prize draw you are agreeing to these prize draw terms and conditions. 
  • The prize draw is being run by Islington Council as part of its Let’s Talk Islington engagement programme. 

Eligibility to enter 

  • The prize draw is open to entrants over 16 years of age (Islington Council staff members are excluded from the draw) who complete the Let’s Talk About
  • The Future of Islington survey in either a physical or online format. 
  • In entering the prize draw, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim any prize you may win. 
  • A maximum of one entry per individual is permitted. 
  • The prize draw is free to enter. 

How to enter 

  • The prize draw will include those who submit an email address or telephone number until midday 27th March 2022. Entries after that time and date will not be included in the draw. 
  • Islington Council will not accept responsibility if contact details provided are incomplete or inaccurate. 

The prize 

  • The prizes available include one £100, two £50 or five £20 Love2Shop Vouchers. 
  • Islington Council’s use of particular brands as prizes does not imply any affiliation with or endorsement of such brands. 
  • The winners will be drawn at random. 
  • The prize is non-exchangeable, non-transferable and no cash alternatives will be offered. 
  • We reserve the right to substitute prizes with another prize of equal or higher value if circumstances beyond our control make it necessary to do so. 
  • The decision of Islington Council regarding any aspect of the prize draw is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into about it. 

Winner announcement

  • The winner will be notified after 6th May via the email or phone number provided in the survey. 
  • Islington Council will attempt to notify the winner by email and/or phone up to two times. 
  • If the winner does not respond to the emails or phone messages notifying them of their win within 14 days of the second notification, they will lose thei right to the prize, and Islington Council reserves the right to choose and notify a new winner.

 Receipt of the prize 

  • Please allow 14 days for delivery of the prize or alternative collection or delivery arrangements may be made through mutual agreement. 

Data protection and publicity

  • You consent to any personal information you provide in entering the prize draw being used by Islington Council for the purposes of administering the prize draw, and for those purposes as defined within our privacy notice. 
  • Entrants may not apply for details of the winning participants. 
  • An announcement of the winners’ first name and wards will be made via Islington Council’s Let’s Talk Islington site. 
  • All personal information shall be used in accordance with Islington Council’s Privacy Notice. 
  • Participants may withdraw their entry from the prize draw at any time by emailing LetsTalkIslington@islington.gov.uk All personal data will be deleted within 30 days.

Limitation of Liability 

  • Islington Council does not accept any liability for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrants as a result of either participating in the prize draw or being selected for a prize, save that Islington Council does not exclude its liability for death or personal injury as a result of its own negligence. 
  • Islington Council does not provide any form of practical or IT support for this prize. On receipt, all responsibilities relating to warranty and the product are that of the prize winner. 

General 

  • Islington Council reserves the right to cancel the prize draw or amend these terms and conditions at any time, without prior notice. 
  • The prize draw and these terms and conditions will be governed by English law and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Prize Draw and Competition Privacy Notice

This privacy notice is for people who enter a prize draw or competition run by Islington Council.

It explains how Islington Council collects, uses and shares the personal data you submit in connection with the prize draw or competition, and your rights in relation to such personal data. 

Islington Council is the data controller of the information it collects and processes as described in this Notice.  This means that it has the responsibility to safeguard the information and ensure it is processed lawfully in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (“UK GDPR”) and the UK Data Protection Act (2018). 

How we collect your data

We collect your personal data from the information you provide to us when you enter the prize draw or competition. This may consist of your name and contact details (e.g. email address).

How we use your data

Your data will be used by Islington Council for the purposes of managing and administering the prize draw or competition, including notifying you if you are a winner.

The basis for processing your information 

When we use your data in order to manage and administer the prize draw or competition, this processing is necessary for the performance of the contract between you and Islington Council (i.e. the contractual arrangements dealing with your participation in the prize draw or competition).

Where you have opted to receive additional notification from us, you expressly agree that we may send emails to you occasionally in order to inform you about developments resulting from the survey or consultation. You may opt out of receiving these messages at any time by clicking on the ‘unsubscribe’ link in the emails.

How long your information is kept

We will keep your data only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out above and for any audit or legal purposes.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have a number of rights in relation to our processing of your data. These include:

  • Right to request access to your data as processed by Islington Council and information about that processing (“subject access request”)
  • Right to rectify any inaccuracies in your data
  • Right to request erasure of your data from our systems and files
  • Right to place restrictions on our processing of your data
  • Right to object to our processing of your data

Please note that the above rights are not absolute, and we may be entitled to refuse requests where exceptions apply (eg where we are required to hold or use information by law).
