Holloway Prison Discussion Paper

This consultation is closed.

Start date 03 March 2017
End date 11 April 2017

The last prisoners left the site in the summer of 2016. The prison has now been decommissioned. The Ministry of Justice has announced its intention to sell the site to help fund improvements to the prison estate in other locations.

The council are in the early stages of producing planning guidance to provide clarity about what would be expected from the site’s future development.

Before developing more detailed plans and guidance we are seeking views about the future of the site. We have put together a brief discussion paper to provide the background and set out the key issues that will be addressed in the guidance.

Following this early consultation and taking into account the comments received we will develop full draft guidance for the site that will be consulted on later this year.  The planning guidance will be a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) which will need to be taken into account by any future planning application on the site.

Where can I find out more?

You can download the discussion paper at the bottom of this page under 'useful documents'. We have also prepared some responses to frequently asked questions which you can find below.
