Angel area proposal (Zone B)

This consultation ran from Monday 6 July until Monday 7 September 2015 and has now closed. Thank you to those who provided feedback.

Details of the original consultation are below.

Why is it necessary to review parking controls in this area?

Islington’s vibrant night-time economy continues to grow, with the borough having London’s second highest density of pubs, clubs and bars. As visitors flock to our many night-time venues parking is in high demand, particularly in the Angel area in the south of the borough.

Since the last review of CPZs in 2007, the parking demands in the area have changed and no longer offer adequate protection for our residents, making it difficult for them to park near their homes.

What is proposed in this area?

The council is proposing to extend the hours of operation to cover the evening trade, to protect parking for existing permit holders and reserve options for customers to park near to our businesses. This includes:

  • Extending controls to 11pm, Monday to Sunday (everyday).
  • Introducing new free e-vouchers for residents’ visitors, Monday to Friday from 6.30pm to 11pm, Saturday 1.30pm-11pm, Sunday 8.30am-11pm.
  • Introducing a £2.40 flat rate pay and display evening charge to cover the extended period from 6.30pm - 11pm, Monday to Sunday.
