Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London until Friday.

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Cool spaces

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support until 4pm on Thursday and Friday but avoid travelling unless it is essential.

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

Prevent

The Prevent programme supports people who are at risk of becoming involved with terrorism through radicalisation, to make Islington a safer place.

Radicalisation and extremism are serious risks to Islington. We developed the Prevent programme in response to the Government’s Contest strategy (2023).

We focus on working with schools, community, police and security services to identify and protect vulnerable individuals or groups from being radicalised or getting into extremism.

Seeing signs of radicalisation

The Educate Against Hate website explains any possible signs of radicalisation.

Prevent training

Prevent awareness training for professionals who work with members of the public is essential for early identification and intervention. You’ll learn how to understand and recognise signs of radicalisation and extremism to support your safeguarding responsibilities.

What we offer

We create courses that can meet your needs and offer Prevent briefings. Find out more about Prevent training in education.

Workshop to raise awareness of Prevent - an interactive session for frontline staff that helps you identify people who may be vulnerable and at risk of becoming involved in violent extremism and provides advice on how to respond.
