CCTV data requests

Individuals getting  CCTV images

We can only provide CCTV images of the person who requests the information.

When we supply a copy of CCTV images, only images of the person requesting the information can be copied unless all other individuals who may be identified from the CCTV images have consented to the disclosure. All other personal data which may identify any other person will be concealed or erased.

We can refuse an individual request to view data under these provisions if insufficient or inaccurate information is provided or the CCTV footage is likely to become part of a criminal investigation.

To request footage from Islington Council's CCTV cameras complete the Subject Access Request Form

  • passport sized photograph of yourself
  • current proof of address ie a utility bill

Send originals of the above documents with your application, copies will not be accepted and may delay your application.

Road traffic collisions (RTC)

The 'CCTV information request form'  should not be used for road traffic collisions (RTC). If you want information regarding RTCs you must arrange for your solicitors or insurance company to contact us as per below. Check first to see if we have a camera in the locality by clicking on 'view CCTV' link.

Insurance companies and solicitors

If you are an insurance company or solicitor requesting CCTV in relation to an accident, check to see if we have a camera in the locality by clicking on 'view CCTV' link.

If we do, email the CCTV Manager to request a search.

You must:
  • give an accurate location of the incident to the nearest junction
  • supply the make, type and colour of the vehicle(s) involved
  • give as much detail as possible of the incident (if not an RTC)

If CCTV footage is found and required, you will get a unique reference number, which must be quoted in your correspondence.

If CCTV is found and DVD is required, there will be a charge of £50 for one camera's footage and £65 for two cameras.  Please send a cheque/postal order made payable to 'Islington Council' and letter of request to the CCTV Manager, 222 Upper Street N1 1XR.

Your delivery address should be clearly stated in order to send the DVD by secure post.
