Local council elections - Polling stations now open from 7am to 10pm on Thursday 7 May

Here’s what you need to know to vote in person on Thursday 7 May.

  • Polling stations are open 7am to 10pm - check your poll card or the 'Where do I vote?' website for yours
  • Bring photo ID - you cannot vote without an accepted form of ID
  • You do not need your poll card - if you are registered, you can vote
  • All our polling stations are wheelchair accessible and staff are there to help
  • If you have a disability, find out what we can provide to help you vote at your polling station

Free early learning and childcare

Find out about free early learning and childcare for children under 5.

All 3 and 4-year-olds in England can get free early learning or childcare, usually 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year.

Eligible working families can get up to 30 hours a week of free childcare from the term after their child turns nine months until their child starts reception.

Families getting extra Government support who are not eligible for working family entitlements could get 15 hours a week for two-year-olds. Find more information on the Government's website about help with childcare.
