Performing animals registration

How to register your performing animals with us.

If you keep or train animals for public performance - for example, for use in a circus, television or film production, or a theatre performance, you need to register with us. 

You must register in the borough where the animal handler lives and not where the performance is taking place.


You can download the application form from ‘Useful documents’ below. You also need to provide details on all the animals and their performances. 

Send the completed form, details on the animal performances, and a cheque for £51 made payable to Islington Council, addressed to the Animal welfare service, 222 Upper Street, London N1 1XR.  

Alternatively, you can email the form to and we will contact you to take payment over the phone. 

After you apply

If your application is approved you will be registered within 10 working days.

The right to appeal

If your application is refused, please contact us in the first instance. You can appeal at the local magistrates’ court.
