How to license a venue

Before we can license your venue for marriages and civil partnerships, there are some things you should check first and documentation to complete:

  1. Make sure that your premises comply with the required standards before you apply:
  2. If you are satisfied that the premises meet these standards, please complete the application (Form A). You will also need to arrange for a statutory notice to be published in a local paper to notify the public of your application. See Public Notice (Form B).
  3. Please send us:
    • your completed application (Form A)

    • four copies of a plan of the premises clearly showing which room/s you wish to license. Please include the interview room.

    • a copy of the statutory notice you have placed in a local paper 

    • payment of £1,500 for a three year period.

You can email good quality scans or photos of the required documents to registrars@islington.gov.uk and call us on 020 7527 6350 to pay the fee by credit or debit card.
