Voter registration canvass 2026

Find out about the voter registration canvass this year, what to do when you get a letter or email, and how to update your voter information.

Every year around July, all households in Islington will get an email or letter from us that asks you to check who can vote at your address. When you reply, we update the voting information on our electoral register. This is called the 'annual canvass'.

Fill in the form online as soon as you get an email or letter so that we have the correct voter information for your household.

We started the annual canvass in July 2026.

How to reply to the canvass

It is really important to keep your voting information up to date. This is not the same as registering to vote.

You must reply even if you are already on the electoral register.

The letter or email tells you what to do. Use the security codes from your letter or email to update your information. Doing it online is the fastest and easiest way of replying to us.

Reply to us on Household Response

If you cannot do it online:

  • call us on 020 7527 3110
  • return the form you got with the letter by post to: Electoral Services, London Borough of Islington, Town Hall, Upper Street, London, N1 2UD

If you need help filling in the form on paper or online, call us.

We will send you reminders until we get your update. We may visit your home to ask you to update the information.

Adding new names at the address

If you add new names to the form, they will not be added to the electoral register.

Any new voters you add to your household must register to vote at the address first.

We will send a registration form by email or post to anyone who is new at the address and allowed to vote.

If you need to register to vote, you can also register yourself on GOV.UK.

Changing your information

If you get an email from us with an address that you do not live at anymore, email electoral.services@islington.gov.uk. We will remove the old information from the electoral register.

If there is any other information that you need to change, you can call or email us.
