Elections for the next Mayor of London and London Assembly members, as well as the by-election for Hillrise ward, will take place on Thursday 2 May. You must now show photo ID when you vote at polling stations. See a full list of accepted forms of ID.

Notice of Election: Election of a constituency London Assembly member in the North East constituency

The North East constituency of the Greater London Authority comprises the London Boroughs of Waltham Forest, Hackney and Islington.

  1. An election is to be held for a Constituency London Assembly Member to serve in the following constituency of the Greater London Authority:
    North East.

  2. Nomination papers can be obtained from Electoral Services, London Borough of Waltham Forest, Walthamstow Assembly Hall, Waltham Forest Town Hall, Fellowship Square, Forest Road, Walthamstow, London E17 4JF during the times stated below, or by e-mail from electoral.services@WalthamForest.gov.uk.

  3. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Constituency Returning Officer at the London Borough of Waltham Forest, Walthamstow Assembly Hall, Waltham Forest Town Hall, Fellowship Square, Forest Road, Walthamstow, London E17 4JF between the hours of 10am and 4pm on any week day after and including the date of this notice, but by no later than 4pm on Wednesday, 27 March 2024.

  4. The £1,000 deposit required can be paid by legal tender (cash), by means of a banker’s draft from a drawer which carries on business as a banker in the United Kingdom or by electronic transfer of funds.

    Money laundering rules will apply if the deposit is paid in cash, and you will be required to provide proof of the source of the monies paid.

    Any banker’s draft or electronic transfer should include the reference “(insert name of party or candidate)/NE(GLA)”. Details of the account to which any such banker’s draft or electronic transfer should be made are:

    A remittance advice for any electronic transfer should be sent to electoral.services@WalthamForest.gov.uk. All electronic transfers must be cleared in the account detailed above by 4pm on Wednesday, 27 March 2024.

  5. If this election is contested, the poll will take place on Thursday, 2 May 2024.

  6. Applications to register to vote in this election must reach the relevant authority’s Electoral Registration Officer (see table below) by 12am midnight on Tuesday, 16 April 2024. Applications can also be made online at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

  7. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Electors’ Document valid for this election must reach the relevant authority’s Electoral Registration Officer (see 5 above) by 5pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024. Applications can also be made online atwww.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate.

  8. Applications for, amendments to or cancellations of postal votes must reach the relevant authority’s Electoral Registration Officer (see 5 above) by 5.00pm on Wednesday, 17th April 2024. Applications can be made online at: www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote.

  9. Amendments to or cancellations of current proxy and proxy postal vote arrangements must reach the relevant authority’s Electoral Registration Officer (see 5 above) by 5pm on Wednesday, 17 April 2024.

  10. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the relevant authority’s Electoral Registration Officer (see 5 above) by 5pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024.

  11. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work or service reasons must reach the relevant authority’s Electoral Registration Officer (see 5 above) by 5pm on Thursday, 2 May 2024. Any such physical incapacity must have occurred after 5.00pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024. To apply on the grounds of work or service, the person must have become aware that they are not able to attend their polling station in person after 5pm on Wednesday, 24 April 2024.
