Elections on 2 May

Elections for the next Mayor of London and London Assembly members, as well as the by-election for Hillrise ward, will take place on Thursday 2 May. You must now show photo ID when you vote at polling stations. See a full list of accepted forms of ID.

Information on election results

  • General elections

    In a general election, you can vote for one Member of Parliament (MP) to represent your area – or constituency – in the House of Commons.

  • Local council elections

    At local council elections, you vote for the councillors you want to run your local services.

  • Mayoral and GLA elections

    The Mayor of London is accountable for the strategic government of London. The GLA examines the Mayor's decisions. The next elections are in May 2020.
