About your team

A message from Maxine Holdsworth, Corporate Director of Housing

At Islington, housing is a top priority. We strongly believe that a secure and affordable place to call home is key to helping people achieve their potential and enjoy a good quality of life - but we know that the shortage of genuinely affordable housing in our densely populated borough is a real concern for many local people.

You will join a well established senior management team working with colleagues and partners to ensure decent housing that enables our residents can live well. We have a programme to develop hundreds of new council homes; keep our residents safe in their homes; be an excellent landlord; and support rough sleepers away from homelessness.

You will lead a high performing division setting housing strategy and successfully working to prevent homelessness. You will lead relationships with housing associations, tenant management organisations and the PFI contract. We are looking for someone who has achieved significant success at a senior level, and can drive forward one of our highest corporate priorities.

For us leadership involves driving strategy and change whilst keeping an eye on the detail in order to understand and drive performance improvement. We are looking for someone who can achieve this balance as well as create a collaborative, empowering culture for staff.

We are looking for someone who is a strong collaborator with experience of working with residents, politicians and partner organisations.

Thoughts from our team

Everybody should have a home, however the demand for social housing far outweighs the supply. Despite the challenge, we’re always able to offer residents access to a form of accommodation - that’s something I’m really proud of.
