Jack McGarrigle, Interim Director of Digital Services

Islington Digital Services was established in 2019 with a strong emphasis to modernise our infrastructure and build resilience for our day-to-day operations. The success for this effort was reflected in our highly acclaimed response to lockdown in 2020 – our infrastructure served as well. With innovation and agility we moved the organisation into a highly effective hybrid working model whilst maintaining our business systems upgrades.

Today we are at the beginning of the next stage of our growth as a digital organisation. Our new structure has increased the number of positions in our service to support the next generation of business transformation which puts our residents at the centre of focus. The new roles range from increased project management capacity through to growth in service design, user research, automation, technology adoption, cybersecurity, and data engineering.

Digital organisations must periodically reinvent themselves to stay relevant and powerful to the mission of the organisation. I hope you can see yourself as part of our team of next generation professionals. Our service values and thrives on the diversity of individuals within a collaborative and committed team.

I strongly recommend you look at these new positions – they may be the most rewarding and fulfilling roles of your career.

For a more equal future

Islington is a place of contrasts – where a media stereotype of affluence doesn’t ring true for the thousands of residents who are at risk of being left behind. That’s why we’ve set ourselves a mission to create a more equal Islington by 2030.
