Islington's parks and green spaces are your parks and green spaces. And there are many ways that you can get involved.
If you want to be involved in management decisions, gardening days and organising community events you can join or form a Friends of Park group. All groups are part of the Friends of Forum who also meet regularly to share ideas and discuss parks issues at a more strategic level.
If you would like to, you can organise an event in your local park.
If you enjoy gardening, you can join other people by volunteering at a community planting day. Or you can take on your own patch of Islington, by planting and maintaining a forgotten corner or tree pit garden. Find out more about Islington in Bloom.
Volunteer in Islington’s parks
Volunteering in an Islington park is a great way to improve your physical and mental wellbeing, gain practical skills, meet new people and help improve our parks. We have put together a list of dates where you can join us in various parks borough wide.
All sessions are 10am-12noon and there is no need to book.
Jobs include sweeping, weeding, litter picking, pruning shrubs and roses and creating bug hotels.
We provide instructions on how to use tools safely and ask you to wear suitable clothing to work outdoors, have sturdy shoes or boots and bring your own gloves if you can. All tools, equipment, materials and protective items will be provided.
Coronavirus controls will be in place and the name and phone number of each volunteer will be required at the beginning of each session for track and trace purposes.
See below for contact details.
