September Clean 2020

Islington’s Great Spring Clean was postponed in March 2020 due to the coronavirus outbreak.

It has been rescheduled and will take place between 11 and 27 September 2020, and this year we’ll be supporting environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy with their Great British September Clean too. We’re encouraging everyone to ‘be part of the pick’ and to make a difference to our environment.

Volunteer as little as 15 minutes to litter pick, clear away leaves, or report fly-tipping while out and about near your home. You can take part as a family from the same household or in small socially distanced groups of up to 6 people. We'll also be showcasing our new electric vehicles, designed to help keep Islington clean, and offering information and guidance on recycling and community safety, all in aid of making Islington a better place to live, work and visit.

Due to the on-going pandemic, this year we won't be organising our normal events for residents to join but we will still be providing waste collection services.

We’ll also be asking residents to vote for Sweeper of the Year and will be awarding our award for going the extra mile. More information to follow.

How to hold your own litter pick

If you'd like to help keep Islington clean and want to hold your own litter pick from 11 to 27 September, then we can help.

We can provide bin bags and collect any bagged rubbish – just let us know where from and when in advance.

Send us photos of your litter pick and we may feature them on our social media channels.

If you’d like to take part or hold a litter-pick please email chris.demetriou@islington.gov.uk
