Islington Council first produced a tree policy in 1992 and this has subsequently been revised and updated with the most recent draft policy being produced in 2009.
The policy document covers both publicly owned and managed council trees and those trees found on private land which are protected by planning legislation or affected by developments.
The document aims to identify Islington council’s commitment to the protection and retention of trees in the city and urban environment and the way in which this is achieved. This also identifies new policies and objectives for the forthcoming years.
