Protected Trees

Trees on private property fall within the responsibility of the Tree and Landscape section of the Planning Service.

Trees within Islington may be protected by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs) or by virtue of being in a conservation area, and in some cases by planning conditions.

There is no fee for making a tree application or notification to the council and the Tree Preservation Officers are able to provide pre-application advice in many cases. There are certain exemptions to the requirements set out above, so if in doubt, contact the Tree and Landscape section.
