Easter service changes

During the Easter period, some of our services will be operating slightly different hours. Our council’s bin collection schedule will change for one week starting on Friday 29 March to make sure everyone’s waste is picked up around the bank holiday.

See the full schedule and your amended rubbish and recycling collection dates and other service changes including parking and library opening times over the Easter period.

Hold a Coronation event in a park or estate

Guidance about how to apply to hold an event in a park or an estate for the Coronation.

We want to support activities which bring residents together to celebrate the King’s Coronation. Individuals and community groups can organise an event in a local park or estate during the Bank Holiday weekend.

Before you apply

Types of park events you can hold

Use this application form if you plan to have an event in a park without:

  • less than 50 people attending
  • amplified music
  • professional caterers
  • temporary structures (e.g. bouncy castles, gazebos, tent)
  • gas-fired barbecues.

If your park event will feature any of these, you must complete a different application form.

Information to prepare

As part of the online application form, we ask for details about how the event will be organised. Please prepare the following information:

  • Contact details of the event organiser and person who will be on site on the day
  • Name of park or estate, and area in the park or estate where you want the event to take place
  • Event date and time, including the time you will set up and time you will finish clearing up
  • Number of attendees
  • Types of activities that will take place, equipment that will be on site, volunteers or employees, and expected noise levels
  • Whether you have public liability insurance (this is not required)
  • Whether you have completed a risk assessment (this is not required)

Advice for planning your event

Islington Council would like to see gatherings take place across the borough. View information about parks in Islington.

If your organisation’s employees are being paid to support the running of the event please ensure they are paid an hourly wage (or equivalent of an hourly wage) no less than the London Living Wage.

If you need volunteers, contact the Islington Volunteer Centre.

We recommend completing a risk assessment though this is not required. View a risk assessment template and guidance.

Any items or equipment brought into the park or estate should be removed afterwards. Rubbish should be taken home or left in the bins.
