Create a difference – Open Call for Creative Ideas
Islington Council is bidding to be the Mayor’s London Borough of Culture 2019 and to deliver a year of transformational cultural activity. Our vision is to make Islington a borough where everyone can develop, share and value their creative talent.
We want to strengthen the role that culture can play in improving educational and employment opportunities that in turn reduce inequality. We also want to improve access to the amazing cultural offer available on our doorstep.
So if you have an idea about how we could best use culture to make Islington a fairer place to live in, work and grow up, please get in touch. It doesn’t matter how big or small your idea is or whether you are a resident, artist, community organisation or arts venue. Everyone is welcome to put forward ideas and we can help you apply for the support you would need to make them happen. You can read about – and be inspired by - other Islington residents who are already creating a difference on our Islington Life website.
If you have a good idea, now is the time to tell us
As well as helping us to win, we hope that the bidding process will help us to unearth hidden talent, nurture ambitions and form partnerships that reduce inequality in the borough.
We will use the strongest ideas that you submit to shape Islington’s London Borough of Culture bid. With your permission we will also link-up artists, groups and organisations with shared ambitions.
We are committed to supporting the development of creative activity that tackles inequalities in the borough and unleashes Islington’s creative potential. Although we can’t promise to realise every idea, we will take some of them forward – regardless of whether we win the title or not. So you have everything to gain by getting in touch now!
If you are unsure how to fill in the form or how much detail to give we can help you. We will be offering advice sessions every week-day till 30 November at our offices. Phone 020 7527 5243 or email to book one.
