Chief Executive
Islington is a place where your leadership will make a huge difference to its diverse communities and a dedicated council workforce. Council Leader Cllr Kaya Comer-Schwartz explains why.
For a more equal future
Islington is a place of contrasts – where a media stereotype of affluence doesn’t ring true for the thousands of residents who are at risk of being left behind. That’s why we’ve set ourselves a mission to create a more equal Islington by 2030.

The role
We are looking for a Chief Executive that will create cohesion and togetherness across the council, including strengthening their leadership team as the engine room for pushing the rest of the organisation to deliver on our plan. They will also have an affinity with our social workers, caretakers, and concierge among other frontline workers.
This person will be a compassionate leader who takes initiative and drives positive change, ensuring that colleagues across the council are supported to achieve and deliver the very best for residents. They will be creative, innovative and believe in early intervention where possible.
They will want to meet and engage with partners and communities to achieve the goals and aspirations in our Islington Together 2030 plan - because collaboration brings better opportunity for us all. Working closely with the Leader of the council, the new Chief Executive will motivate from the very top down with a dynamic approach to enable us all to be ambitious for those most in need in our borough.
