Families for Life - free healthy lifestyle programmes and sessions to families in Islington

Families for life is a healthy lifestyle programme to support families with children aged 2 – 11 years to be active and have a healthy lifestyle. The programme supports parents to gain the skills and knowledge they need to help their children (and wider family) live active, healthy lives. 

Families for Life provides a great opportunity to support families to ‘feel good and live well’.

Please inform us of any food allergies or dietary requirements and disabilities which will impact your or your child's engagement and participation in the sessions.

Family Kitchen

Family Kitchen is a cooking course with healthy lifestyle messages that has been designed to help families with children aged 2 to 11 to make healthy lifestyle choices to 'feel good and live well'. Parent and children attend a weekly programme together. 

Family Kitchen Early Years programmes

  • Family Kitchen Early Years. When Monday 26 February to 18 March (4 weeks), 10am to 12 midday. Where: Hilldrop Community Centre, Hilldrop Road, N7 0JE
  • Family Kitchen Early Years. When: Friday 23 February to 22 March (5 weeks), 10am to 12 midday.  Where: Golden Lane children's centre, Whitecross St, London EC1Y 8JA
  • Family Kitchen Early Years. When: Monday 22 April to 20 May (5 weeks), 10am to 12 midday. Where: Hilldrop Community Centre, Hilldrop Road, N7 0JE

Family Kitchen primary programme

  • Family Kitchen primary programme. When: Wednesday 21 February to 20 March (5 weeks), 4 - 6pm. Where: Mildmay community centre, Woodville Rd, Mayville Estate, London N16 8NA
  • Family Kitchen primary programme. When: Thursday 22 February to 21 March (5 weeks), 4 - 6pm. Where: Popham Community Centre, Popham St, London N1
  • Active Spaces Family Kitchen: this sessions starts with half an hour fun games and activities delivered by Arsenal in the community. When: Wednesday 17 April to 22 May (6 weeks), 4 - 6pm. Where: Goodinge Community Centre, 2 Goodinge Road, N7 9GZ

For families

To book on a programme, please register here. You will complete a form with information about your contact details and about the ages of your children. 

For professionals

To refer a family, please register here. You will complete a form with details about the family, your contact details and the name of the family's GP.

Families with children aged 2 - 11, who would like support to develop a healthy lifestyle, who have children who are fussy eaters, or have a concern about weight.

Referral Details

For families, to book on a programme, please email us. You will be sent a form to complete which asks for your contact details and your family make up. 

For professionals, to refer a family, please email. Please make sure to use a secure email system if you are emailing us from outside of the council. You will be send a form to complete with details about the family, your contact details and the name of the family's GP.
