Islington Council is proposing to change its housing allocations scheme. Though the council has committed to building 2000 new homes before 2020, there is increased demand for social housing, and the number of council homes which become vacant every year is going down.
Islington Council must ensure that our allocations scheme is as clear as possible, and allows us to deliver the right housing solutions to our residents.
Our scheme must also be in line with current guidance and legislation, including the introduction of Right To Move and the Homelessness Reduction Act, which ensures our allocations scheme explains clearly how we make offers to homeless households.
