A new state of the art play building at Martin Luther King Adventure Playground

Martin Luther King Adventure Playground is one of Islington’s most popular adventure playground sites and has been a key provider of play opportunities within the Borough for over 40 years.

To ensure this continues, the existing building which was demolished in 2018 having become unsafe and irreparable, will be replaced with a new state of the art play building. The new adventure play building will;

  • be built using sustainable materials and modern construction methods

  • be thermally efficient with a low operational carbon footprint

  • create a healthy indoor environment with good air quality

  • have lots of natural light to support wellbeing

  • support and facilitate a range of indoor and outdoor free play activities

  • be able to host activities for schools, children’s parties and community events

  • involve the local community in the design and construction process
