Market Trader of the Year 2021

Vote for your Market Trader of the Year 2021

Islington is famous for its street markets. So, we want your help to celebrate the very best of them, as the Market Trader of the Year Award returns for 2021.

Islington’s Market Trader of the Year award is open to licensed traders at the five main council-run markets – Camden Passage, Chapel Market, Exmouth Market, Whitecross Street and Archway – and traders on scattered sites around the borough.

There will be two awards – for food stalls and non-food stalls – and residents can nominate their favourite trader.

The winners will receive £200 off their stall rent. All winning nominations will be entered into a draw for a £50 prize to spend at the chosen stall.

Voting is really easy!

 You can vote online by completing our online form or you can email the team at, with the following details:

  • Name of trader;
  • Market they trade in;
  • Your name, email and/or phone no; and
  • Why they should win.

There will also be Market Trader of the Year postcards available at each market with details of the contest, which you can also use to post in your vote.

The closing date for voting is 7 November 2021.

The winners will be announced at the Christmas Lights ceremony in November.

Market Trader of the Year Terms and Conditions

The competition relates to Market Traders that are directly licensed by Islington Council.

To be eligible to vote you must not be a market trader in Islington or be related to any market trader in Islington. Customers are only entitled to vote once for their chosen trader.

Multiple entries will exclude the voter from the competition.

The winning trader will be selected on the following criteria. Number of votes plus good customer comments relating to customer service, value for money and contribution to the overall market appeal.

Even if a trader receives the most votes, they will not be entitled to be awarded Market Trader of the Year if they are in breach of any of their licence conditions.

The winning customer will be chosen at random from those votes cast for the winning trader. The Judge’s decision will be final. No correspondence will be entered into.

We will only use customer email addresses for the purpose of contacting the winning customer.
