Islington businesses with licenses to sell alcohol are strongly encouraged to join one of the borough’s pub watch schemes. The aim of Pubwatch is to encourage a safe, secure social drinking environment in all licensed premises and help to reduce drink-related crime.

Licensees from pubs, bars, restaurants and cafes meet every couple of months to discuss common issues. These meeting are supported and attended by licensing officers from the council and representatives from the police.

In addition to reflecting positively on the management of licensed premises, Pubwatch members are given first option on subsidised courses and licensing seminars.

Pubwatch schemes are currently held in the following areas:

  • Arsenal
  • Clerkenwell
  • Bunhill
  • Angel/St. Mary's
  • Archway
  • Stroud Green/Finsbury Park
  • Islington Club Watch (for night clubs)
