Working with businesses for a better Islington
Local businesses play a vital role in our community, and we know many employers want to help make Islington a better place for those who work and live here. We want to make it easy for you to do so, in a way that brings benefits to your business.
The Employer Engagement team aims to be your 'single point of contact' with the council, helping you improve your links with the community and recruit locally, to benefit your business and improve the employment prospects of local residents. - We find candidates for your vacancies through a tried and tested process of advertising, shortlisting and pre-screening before submitting them to employers for consideration, saving you valuable time and making sure you get the closest possible match.
We source candidates from a network of local organisations across Islington. This enables us to shortlist from local candidates, who have a short commute to work and are able to do unsociable shifts including early mornings, nights and evenings/weekends where required.
We have specialist local knowledge of Islington, its employers and its sectors. We offer occasional employer breakfast meetings, seminars and job fairs, enhancing your local knowledge and facilitating networking.
Opportunities to take part in Corporate Social Responsibility activity such as talks to local residents relating to specific sectors, work placements and opportunities for your staff to participate in volunteering, such as through our Work Clubs and mentoring schemes.
Why work with The Employer Engagement Team?
"I have been using the service for several years now. It continues to be my first port of call to find willing and able local staff. Candidates put through to the interview stage have been screened to ensure they are appropriate for the role saving me time. I would highly recommend the service to local businesses." Paul Gardner, co-owner of Budgens, Upper Street, N1
