Shortlisted for SCALA Building of the Year 2005
Islington Arts and Media School's buildings had been developed in a haphazard fashion over many years, resulting in an incoherent and confusing campus. The brief for Islington Architects was to rationalise the way the school's buildings were organised.
The new campus masterplan proposed the demolition of a number of existing buildings and the construction of a new Technology Department, Sports Hall and specialist Dance Department. The new facilities were developed around a central landscaped open space, which became the heart of the re-designed campus.
