Voluntary and community sector organisations operating in Islington can apply to a range of funders. There are various grants available from the council, local funders and national funders.

Council Funding

Islington Council has several grant funding programmes open to VCS organisations that provide services in the borough.

Local Funding 

Within Islington a number of local organisations offer VCS grant programmes aimed at supporting the sector.

Islington Giving - Since its launch the organisation has been funding projects which invest in young people tackle poverty and confront isolation.

Cripplegate Foundation - This independent charity works in Islington and parts of the City of London. It currently administers six funds for Islington which include grants for organisations and residents. In addition to grant making, they provide advice and support to local organisations, develop partnerships, undertake research, and influence policy.

Richard Cloudesley’s Charity - This Charity is endowed by the will of Richard Cloudesley on 13th January 1518, and serves churches and medical needs in the Ancient Parish of Islington. This is roughly the present London Borough of Islington but excluding any area south of Chapel Market and City Road. The Charity gives grants to address poverty and ill health in Islington; this includes mental ill health and disability.

Guidance and Support

Voluntary Action Islington receives funding from the council to provide strategic leadership and infrastructure and capacity building services to the sector. They offer a wide range of services for local organisations, small groups, and volunteers at all stages of their development. These services range from one-to-one support, through to training and money management.

Islington’s VCS Development Team works directly with local VCS organisations, departments within the council and other external organisations to improve the local environment for the voluntary and community sector. The team are based at Islington Town Hall and are keen to meet and establish relationships with VCS organisations across the borough; if you’d like to meet with a member of the team please do get in touch.
