Islington's Voluntary and Community Sector

Islington’s voluntary and community sector (VCS) lies at the heart of our ambition for a fairer Islington. The borough is home to more than 2,200 voluntary and community organisations of varying sizes, working in diverse fields and specialisms and supporting a wide range of local beneficiaries.

We’re determined to make Islington fairer and to ensure that everyone, whatever their background has the same opportunity to reach their potential and enjoy a good quality of life. We want to work with organisations that can help us achieve this aim.

We want to support Islington’s voluntary and community sector to maintain and renew its long-standing history of being dynamic, vibrant and independent. We want the sector to use its independence and ability to be responsive and to identify opportunities to improve quality of life for Islington residents.
