Explanation of the decision

If you would like to know in more detail the reason why we have made our decision you can ask us for an explanation. Your request must be in writing and signed by you.

You can:

  • complete the online form in my eAccount
  • visit us at one of our Area Housing Offices
  • write to us at Benefits Service, London Borough of Islington, PO Box 34750, London, N7 9WF

What happens next?

If you have asked for an explanation in writing we will write to you within 14 days to explain our decision.

If you still think our decision is wrong, you can ask us to look at our decision again or appeal to the Tribunals Service.

You have one calendar month from the date of the original decision letter to ask us to look at our decision again or to appeal the decision. This time limit will be extended by the time it takes us to send an explanation to you. We will tell you on your explanation letter how long you have left to appeal the decision.
