Polling Place Review Tollington Ward

The Acting Returning Officer for the Parliamentary Constituency of Islington North will be consulted to make formal comments on a proposed change to Brickworks Community Centre, Crouch Hill as the polling place in Polling District NTOC due to imminent nonavailability of the existing venue.

A Notice of Holding a Review of one Polling Place in Tollington Ward has been published below. The submission of representations is now formally invited.

The consultation period is open from now until 18 December 2017. This short period is essential in order for us to enact the change in time for correspondence being sent to electors in advance of the 3 May 2018 elections.

The existing Polling Place (Hanley Crouch Community Centre) will no longer be available and a suitable and accessible alternative is proposed. The proposal is to designate Brickworks Community Centre, Crouch Hill. This is within the Polling District and close to the existing venue.

Section 18B (4) of the Representation of the People Act 1983 states that in conducting a review of polling places the authority must:

a) seek to ensure that all the electors in the constituency have such reasonable facilities for voting as are practicable in the circumstances
b) seek to ensure that so far as is reasonable and practicable, the polling places they are responsible for are accessible to all electors, including those who are disabled, and when considering the designation of a polling place, must have regard to the accessibility needs of disabled persons.

Please note that the regulations require that all representations received are published along with the final report. These shall be published on the council’s website on 9 January 2018.
