Islington Council is improving Crouch Hill park. Above is a graphic impression of the new Ashmount School building being developed.
We’re providing new school and nursery buildings and refurbishing the youth centre, but you won’t lose a foot of parkland in the process. In fact, we’ll be making improvements to the nature reserve, security and proving new park entrances. We want to you to have a park you love at the heart of your community. Construction is underway and is due to finish in September 2012. The school is expected to move from its current premises to the new building in October 2012, along with the reopening of the Cape.
Ashmount Primary School
Ashmount School is moving from its current site in Ashmount Road N19 to a new building on the site of the former Crouch Hill recreation centre. Its facilities will be available for community use outside school hours and we're currently working with the school to agree a framework for this.
Bowlers Community Nursery
Provides high-quality day care and education for up to 36 children aged between 3 months and 5 years. The nursery will remain open throughout the construction period and the new building will be completed in 2012.
Cape Play and Youth Project
The Cape Play and Youth Project provides activities for children and young people aged 6 to 19 years. These activities are developed with children and young people, respond to their needs, and support their personal and social development. The Cape is due to reopen in Spring 2012.
Crouch Hill park
Islington Council is making improvements to park entrances and pathways, adding new lighting and removing aging play equipment.
While the new buildings are being constructed, the open space at Crouch Hill will be closed to the public for safety reasons. However, Bowlers Community Nursery will continue to operate on the site and the Nature Reserve and the Parkland Walk will not be affected. The new park will reopen in Autumn 2012.
