You will need the account number from your permit renewal reminder letter and your vehicle registration number to be able to complete your application. The cost of your permit depends on either the CO2 emissions’ or the engine size of your vehicle(s). These details can be found on either your vehicle registration document (V5) or you can follow this link to the Direct.gov website. You will need these details to be able to complete your application.

Most people who live in Islington can apply for a parking permit. However there are areas where we have introduced some parking permit free developments. If you want to apply for a permit and are not sure if you live in one of these areas please call us on 020 7527 2000 or view this list of permit free properties.
Residents living on council housing estates are entitled to purchase permits for parking on-street in their local CPZ. However, these permits are not valid in estate car parks. If you require an estate permit you can purchase one from the Housing area of this website.
We won’t be able to issue the permit immediately. We need you to send us some documents to prove you are a resident and that you own your vehicle. However you will be able to print off a holding permit that will be valid for 14 days and this will allow you to park in the controlled parking zone where you live. This holding permit will need to be displayed on the windscreen inside your vehicle where our enforcement staff can easily see it. You will need to have access to a printer so that you can print the holding permit.
If we do not receive your documents within the 14 days and your holding permit expires, your permit application will be void and the council will not refund any payments made. If you submit more than one temporary permit application online but do not send us the required documents, you will not be eligible for a refund and your vehicle may also be prioritised for proactive enforcement action, as a matter of possible fraud.
The 14 day holding permit will start from the date of your application and should be replaced by the permit we send you after we have received your documents. If you are still displaying the 14 day permit after it expires you may get a parking ticket.
If you want a permit for a scooter or motorcycle please see further down this page.
Please note the terms and conditions for the issue and use of a permit.
