Islington's next information evening is on Wednesday 23 May 2012 at 6.30pm at Islington Town Hall, Upper Street, London, N1 3RH. It's a great opportunity to meet an adoptive parent who will share their experiences about what it's really like adopting a child and you can speak with social workers to discuss the processes and the support available. There are children waiting in our borough for loving parents who can give them the support they need to grow into healthy happy adults. We have single children and groups of brothers and sisters aged between 18 months and six years of age from a range of ethnic and religious backgrounds who need new families. In Islington, we know all sorts of people make good adoptive parents and we welcome people who live in and out of our borough. Our priority is to make sure the children waiting go to the right loving family.

Ofsted have rated Islington Children's Service - which includes Islington's Adoption Team - as 'outstanding'. This means children and young people in the borough are cared for and looked after well, and that we are committed to keeping them safe. Ofsted inspectors praised Islington Children's Service staff, saying they were '....highly skilled, child centred, and that their effective practice improved the outcomes for children and young people.'
